Konst Knox Fort Locks
2005, wall painting in acrylic paint, app. 5m x 3m, Konstfack University/Stockholm
This work subtly criticized the security policy of the new art college, by referring to political posters and old-style propaganda formats. At the time, surveillance cameras, teachers’ rooms with overviews of the students’ workshops, alarms that always went off and made social events nearly impossible, made students at the school go mad. In my wall drawing I played with the secret comparison of Konstfack with Fort Knox, and made a word game mixing the two names. I distorted the school’s motto ”Insight and Diligence” into “Insight on Diligence”. The mural was made as part of a course in wall painting, held by the artist and teacher Thomas Elofsson, and was my first real wall drawing.
