Fanny Look (There is nothing ordinary in the world)

“Fanny Look (There is nothing ordinary in the world)” is a project initiated by curator Yuvinka Medina in collaboration with Whyred Art Project. My piece started out in Paris, on my wanderings in the city: particularly in a Chinese wholesaler district along rue Faubourg Saint-Martin. I built up a fictious narration around this area, through documenting elements of architecture, language and rumors. Transformed into a wall drawing and publication, the work was exhibited at the fashion shop Whyred North (Mäster Samuelsgatan 5, Stockholm). The wall drawing depicted an interior from one of the Chinese shops. For me, this transfer of low quality products into a fashion temple like Whyred, was a way to juxtapose and temporarily redistribute the places within the aesthetical as well as social hierarchy.
